MONTGOMERY, PA, October 1, 2014 — Gemma Power Systems, LLC (GPS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Argan, Inc. (NYSE: AGX) has donated surplus welding materials to the Pennsylvania College of Technology for use in their School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies.

GPS is the Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contractor for the Panda Patriot Generating Station, being constructed in Lycoming County.  The power plant is an 829 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle facility that will provide clean, reliable electric power to nearly a million homes.  The plant is one of two generating stations specifically developed for this area to take advantage of the Marcellus Shale natural gas formation. The first plant, Panda’s Liberty Generating Station, is under construction by GPS in Towanda, PA, and is also an 829 MW natural gas-fired combined cycle facility.

“We’re pleased to make this contribution to the Pennsylvania College of Technology for use in its industrial and engineering technologies programs.  The college is truly a pipeline of talent for our industry and we are delighted to support their mission,” said Joe Hickson, Patriot Project Manager.

“Gemma Power Systems actively supports the local communities in which it works, and this donation is another opportunity to demonstrate our community engagement philosophy,” he said.

“We are extremely appreciative of the donation of welding consumables made to the Welding department,” said Dave Cotner, Dean of Industrial, Computing and Engineering Technologies at Penn College.  ”This donation will be used toward the instruction of the next generation of welding craftspeople, preparing them to go into to the workforce and make their contribution to our communities with companies like Gemma Power Systems,” Cotner said.

The donation from GPS includes various welding products for welding carbon steel, chrome and stainless steel and stick rod, heliarc (TIG) wire and spools of flux core wire for carbon steel and alloy steel welding.
