GEMMA FOCUSES EXCLUSIVELY ON POWER GENERATION, RENEWABLE ENERGY AND INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS. IT’S ALL WE DO.

We excel at providing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services and delivering certainty of outcome for our customers in safety, quality, performance, schedule and price.

Our rigorous up-front planning and constructability reviews assures our customers we can deliver on our promises which leads to one of the best track records in the industry for delivering projects on time and on budget as recognized through customer partnerships and repeat business opportunities.

Gemma’s flexibility and adaptability allow us the ability to provide a staff of experienced construction professionals, equipped with the proper project management tools, and skilled labor resources developed exclusively in the power industry to execute any size project.

EPC

Engineering

We strategically select and partner with engineering firms that bring more than just detailed design expertise. Our partners are chosen based on their proven experience, technical capabilities, and capacity to deliver high-quality results on schedule. We view them as extensions of our team—collaborators in driving project success. With strong in-house technical leadership, we actively guide and enhance their design efforts, ensuring the final engineering solutions are optimized, integrated, and aligned with project objectives.

Procurement

Procurement is another major component in the project execution process. Gemma purchases all major equipment and material from our home office and some of the minor pieces of equipment, miscellaneous material and consumables from the site. To ensure the equipment is procured in a timely fashion and supports both the engineering process and construction process, we prepare a detailed P&D Schedule.

Construction

Project operations are lead from our Glastonbury, Connecticut office until site mobilization. The construction team and the project as a whole are led by the Project Manager. Once the site is mobilized the Project Manager becomes resident on the site and oversees all project operations.

At Gemma, our field execution strategy is tailored to each project. While we prefer to self-perform the majority of the work to maintain control over cost, schedule, and quality, we are also committed to supporting the communities in which we work. As part of our project planning process, we proactively evaluate the availability and capability of the local labor pool and subcontractor base. Where it makes sense—either for project efficiency or to leverage local expertise—we subcontract work to qualified local firms.

This approach allows us to integrate local resources meaningfully into the project, create local employment opportunities, and foster positive community relations, all while maintaining the high standards Gemma is known for. Whether work is self-performed or subcontracted, our full-time, salaried professionals—including discipline superintendents, quality and safety personnel, and field engineers—remain fully engaged in day-to-day oversight to ensure performance, safety, and quality expectations are met.

O&M

OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE

Gemma provides comprehensive Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services for power generation facilities as an extension of our commitment to long-term project success. When requested by our clients, these services help ensure that the facilities we build continue to operate safely, efficiently, and reliably for years to come.

Our O&M offering includes routine inspections, preventive and predictive maintenance, system diagnostics, and rapid troubleshooting—all designed to maximize uptime and performance. By leveraging our deep technical knowledge and project-specific insight, we help clients minimize unplanned outages, extend equipment life cycles, and reduce overall operational costs.

Beyond day-to-day operations, our O&M teams implement industry-leading best practices and advanced monitoring technologies to drive continuous improvement. These efforts enhance not only equipment performance but also safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

For facilities in critical or remote locations, where consistent on-site expertise can be a challenge, Gemma’s O&M services are a vital safeguard—ensuring operational continuity, stability, and long-term value for our clients’ energy infrastructure.

Development Assistance

Gemma actively supports the development of future power projects, offering tailored assistance based on our clients' specific needs. Our involvement can span a wide range of activities—including financial investment, technical consulting, regulatory navigation, and environmental assessments—to help ensure projects are developed efficiently and sustainably.

Since our founding in 1997, Gemma has partnered closely with developers and owners from the earliest stages of project planning. Early engagement enables us to contribute to both the technical and commercial optimization of new generation facilities. Our development support services may include site selection assistance, environmental and geotechnical studies, general arrangement planning, and schedule optimization—along with other services critical to early project success.

For select opportunities, Gemma has also provided early-stage development funding, further demonstrating our commitment to long-term partnership and project viability.

We look forward to supporting your next power generation project from the ground up.

Safety & Quality

Safety

At Gemma, safety is not just a priority—it’s a foundational principle that underpins every aspect of our project execution model. We foster a culture where safety is ingrained in daily operations, embraced by leadership, and expected from every team member and subcontractor on site.

Our site-specific safety plans are rigorously developed and enforced, with clear accountability extended to all subcontractors and partners. This disciplined approach has led to safety performance metrics that consistently surpass national industry averages in both recordable and lost-time injury rates—an achievement that speaks to the strength and effectiveness of our program, not just our policies.

Our unwavering commitment to safety doesn’t stop with past performance. We are fully focused on maintaining and improving this record in 2025 and beyond, ensuring every worker returns home safely each day and every project is delivered without compromise.

Quality

Quality is a core value at Gemma—deeply embedded in our culture and integral to everything we do. It is not treated as a standalone function, but as a shared responsibility that guides our actions from concept through commissioning. Our written Quality Program is grounded in the rigorous process principles of ASME and ISO 9000, providing a structured yet adaptable framework to ensure excellence across all phases of project delivery.

Our comprehensive quality system encompasses every critical element of large-scale industrial project execution—including engineering, procurement, fabrication, erection, inspection, testing, packaging, startup, and documentation. We don't just meet industry standards; we align and integrate a network of interdependent quality programs that reinforce one another and promote consistency, precision, and accountability.

At Gemma, quality is not just achieved—it is actively built into every step of our process. This philosophy ensures that every project we deliver reflects the highest levels of performance, reliability, and long-term value for our clients.
