Gemma Power Systems is seeking highly experienced, qualified and motivated General Superintendents and Discipline Superintendents to join our growing organization building combined cycle natural gas power plant projects in the PJM Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), Midwest and Southeast regions.  Positions to be filled include General Superintendent, Piping Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, Millwright Superintendent, Civil Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent and Rigging Superintendent. Submit your resume, qualifications, compensation history and job title online at www.gemmapower.com/careers.  No phone calls. 

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

The superintendents will be responsible for understanding the complete scope of work of the Owner contract, subcontracts and labor agreements.  Must have experience with direct hire labor (Union and Merit) and subcontracted labor supervision. Will be responsible for manpower projections and labor productivity. All superintendents are responsible for working closely with site safety personnel to ensure a safe work environment at all times. Knowledge of QA/QC plans for the specific work is critical. 

Requirements: 

  • General Superintendents must have at least ten (10) years of experience building this type of facility.  
  • Discipline Superintendents must have at least five (5) years of experience in their particular field and experience leading teams. 

 

Specific responsibilities: 

Rigging Superintendent 

  • Crane selections, plans and logistics.  
  • Working with Safety Coordinator, ensure that operators have received proper training and are qualified for the equipment. 
  • Daily planning. 
  • Work with Civil Superintendent on crane pad requirements, etc. 
  • Overall responsibility for gaining mechanical completion certificates. 
  • Report to the General Superintendent. 
  • Responsible for oversight of offloading of equipment on site and transporting of materials to work areas. 
  • Responsible for all lift plans for the cranes. 
  • Responsible for all forklifts and operators on site. 

 Electrical Superintendent 

  • Develop work plans & layouts for trenching, pad mounts, foundation conduits, tower wiring, substations, etc.   
  • Monitoring progress and engineering drawing compliance. 
  • Working with Safety Coordinator, ensure that equipment operators on electrical crews have received proper training and are qualified for the equipment.   
  • Notify “Dig-Safe” and pipeline companies (or similar agencies) before initiating trenching and excavation. 
  • Daily planning and reporting of quantities. 
  • Ensure all electrical underground and above grade components are installed in accordance with Engineers drawings and specifications. 
  • Work with Civil Superintendent for conduit and grounding installation. 
  • Working with Field Engineers, schedule, RFI submittals and oversee all electrical testing.  Expedite reports to QA/QC. 
  • Ensure that as-builts are properly documented. 
  • Punch list development on electrical aspects. 
  • Overall responsibility for gaining the electrical portion of mechanical completion certificates. 
  • Ensure that all required documentation has been turned over to QA/QC department for incorporation into the turnover books. 
  • Ensure that all field supervision has the most current drawings in the field. 
  • Reports to the General Superintendent. 

 Civil Superintendents 

  • Develop work plans for foundations including excavation, backfill, dewatering, etc. 
  • Monitor progress and engineering drawing compliance. 
  • Working with Safety Coordinator, ensure that equipment operators on civil crews have received proper training and are qualified for the equipment. 
  • Daily planning and reporting of quantities. 
  • Ensure foundations and anchor bolts are installed in accordance with engineered drawings and specifications. 
  • Work with Electrical/ Mechanical Superintendents on piping, conduit and grounding installation. 
  • Working with Field Engineers, schedule, RFI submittals and oversee all concrete/compaction testing.  Expedite reports to QA/QC. 
  • Ensure that excavations are documented as well as underground utility relocation and repair. 
  • Insure that as-builts are documented. 
  • Notify “Dig-Safe” or similar agency before initiating excavation. 
  • Ensure that all required documentation is turned over to the QA/QC department for incorporation into the turnover books. 
  • Ensure that all field supervision has the most current drawings in the field. 
  • Reports to the General Superintendent. 

 Mechanical Superintendent 

  • Responsible for estimating of manpower for job 
  • Ensure all piping, equipment, etc. is installed in accordance with the engineered drawings and specifications as well as any manufacturer’s instructions. 
  • Work with the Field Engineer to ensure proper quantities are taken off, RFI submittal and correct materials are being ordered per drawings and specifications. 
  • Work with Civil/Electrical Superintendents for proper coordination of underground utilities installation. 
  • Ensure that the proper storage and preventive maintenance is being completed per the manufacturer’s requirements and all PM is documented correctly. 
  • Responsible for labor productivity as well as materials budget. 
  • Ensure that the proper QA/QC procedures are being followed for work being accomplished. 
  • Ensure that the as-built conditions are being incorporated in the drawings as the systems are being completed. 
  • Ensure that all required documentation is turned over to the QA/QC department for incorporation into the turnover books. 
  • Ensure that all field supervision has the most current drawings in the field. 
  • Reports to the General Superintendent. 

 Millwright Superintendent 

  • Responsible for estimating of manpower for job. 
  • Ensure all rotating equipment to include turbines, generators, pumps, motors, fans and miscellaneous equipment are installed in accordance with the engineered drawings and specifications as well as any manufacturer’s instructions. 
  • Work with the Field Engineer to ensure proper quantities are taken off, RFI submittal and correct materials are being ordered per drawings and specifications. 
  • Work with Mechanical/Electrical/Rigging Superintendents for proper coordination of equipment installation and interconnection. 
  • Ensure that the proper storage and preventive maintenance is being completed per the manufacturer’s requirements and all PM is documented correctly. 
  • Responsible for labor productivity as well as materials budget. 
  • Ensure that the proper QA/QC procedures are being followed for work being accomplished. 
  • Ensure that the as-built conditions are being incorporated in the drawings as the systems are being completed. 

 Piping Superintendent

  • Ensure all piping systems are installed in accordance with the engineered drawings and specifications as well as any manufacturer’s instructions. 
  • Work with the Field Engineer to ensure proper quantities are taken off, RFI submittal and correct materials are being ordered per drawings and specifications. 
  • Work with Mechanical/Rigging Superintendents for proper coordination of equipment installation and interconnection. 
  • Ensure that the proper storage and preventive maintenance is being completed per the manufacturer’s requirements and all PM is documented correctly. 
  • Responsible for labor productivity as well as materials budget. 
  • Ensure that the proper QA/QC procedures are being followed for work being accomplished. 
  • Ensure that the as-built conditions are being incorporated in the drawings as the systems are being completed.
