Description
The CPV Sentinel Energy Project (CPVS) is a nominally-rated 850 megawatt (MW) electrical generating facility based on eight natural gas-fired General Electric (GE) LMS100 combustion turbine generators (CTGs) operating in simple-cycle mode. The project will supply quick-start peaking capacity, energy, and ancillary services into the California Independent System Operator’s (CAISO) Los Angeles Basin Local Capacity Requirement (LCR) Area. The plant will be equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) equipment to reduce plant emissions of NOx and CO. In addition, the plant will utilize a Zero Liquid Discharge System to eliminate all liquid waste water discharge from the site.
Notice-to-Proceed was received on May 26, 2011 and the plant reached Facility Substantial Completion over three months ahead of schedule on May 7, 2013.
"Thank you for positive feedback about our processes, people, and equipment. But I must say, that working on a site like yours and for a company like Gemma, makes our strong performance easier to attain. We noticed the attributes as soon as we arrived on site.
1. Safety and quality were at the fore front. If you take care of those, the rest takes care of its self.
2. Organization and communication were excellent. A clean organized site and communication between our two teams helped us be as efficient as possible, saving time and money. Our teams were able to work out any problems in the field. There was give and take on both sides.....and that's very refreshing.
I've been in this business for 43 years and it sure is nice to work with a company that has the right culture and mind set."
