Gemma Power Systems Achieves Grid Synchronization at ETEC’s Woodville Renewable Power Project

49.9 MW Biomass facility will enter commercial operation later this year

Glastonbury, CT.  August 4, 2014 – Gemma Power Systems, LLC (GPS) has completed initial synchronization of the Woodville Renewable Power Project with the electric grid operated by the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO). The 49.9 MW biomass plant in Woodville, TX is being constructed by GPS for East Texas Electric Cooperative (ETEC) under an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract.

The ETEC Woodville Renewable Power Project is fueled by chipped, forest waste. The plant features a Shin Nippon steam turbine generator and a Riley Power advanced stoker boiler with integrated air quality control system (AQCS). The plant has been receiving fuel since May 2014.

Construction of the plant began in May, 2012. It is currently undergoing final combustion tuning and performance testing and is scheduled to enter commercial operation later this year. GPS subsidiary, Gemma Plant Operations, will operate the facility under a separate contract with ETEC.
